Rights Advocation & Legal Support Desk

IFPAB amplifies the voices of persons with albinism, blindness, other disabilities, and their families by tracking policy reforms, coordinating legal interventions, and keeping community members informed about their rights.

Centre Mandate

Monitor legislation, provide legal literacy, and respond to rights violations impacting disability communities.

Support Channels

Hotline, paralegal network, and referral pathways with partner law firms and human rights commissions.

Coverage

Zambia-wide with regional partnerships to support cross-border cases throughout Southern Africa.

Focus Areas

  • Legal literacy clinics: Community sessions explaining constitutional protections, disability acts, and inheritance rights for families affected by albinism.
  • Case intake & documentation: Secure reporting systems for discrimination, violence, ritual-related crime, and service denial cases.
  • Policy advocacy: Engagement with parliament, ministries, and traditional leadership to strengthen enforcement of disability and child protection laws.
  • Strategic litigation: Partnering with public interest lawyers to set precedents that reinforce equal rights and access to justice.
  • Family support: Psycho-social counselling, witness preparation, and aftercare for survivors and caregivers.
